Selecting files

Selecting files can not only be done by clicking in the window, but also through the Select Files button.
When you press this button the next screen appears, giving you the possibility to select files in three different ways.
  1. Select All, of course this will select all the files in the current directory.
  2. Select using String, this will allow you to select all files in which the specified string occurs
(this can be case sensetive if you want)
  3. Select except String, this will do the opposite of Select using String, files with the specified string will NOT be selected but all other files will be.
(this can also be case sensetive if you want)
You can only select option 2 and 3 when some text is entered in the box.

Replace pieces of text in filenames

Select the files on which you want to perform a certain action, in this example two files are selected and a text-replace will be done by typing "(a)" in de findbox and nothing in the replacebox. When you press Enter or press the Replace button, the filenames are searched for the find-string and when found this will be replaced by the replace-string (in this case the find text is removed from the filename because no replace-string was given).

In this case the two filenames would become the same after the rename, so the program has to take some action to prefent this from happening. It will add an (x) to the end of the filename before the last dot (x is a number starting at 1).
A box appears to inform you the program has done something more than you asked for.

The next screen shows the result of the replace. As you can see the program has renamed the first file normally. The second file in the window is renamed with "(1)" after the filename so the filenames are unique again.

Change extention

A extention change will happen in the same way, first select the files and type in a new extention in the textbox, then press ENTER or the Change Extention button.

Again a message box appears as in the rename example because the filenames are no longer unique after the extention change and the result is shown below.

For files which names are to long the following message will appear:

You have several options now.

  1. Auto Rename All, will change this filename and all other following filenames to the maximum length. If duplicate filenames would occure during this process other chararcters will be removed from the end to give space to the (x) extend.
  2. Auto Rename, the current file will be given the already displayed new file name, and the following files will be checked. If it finds a name that is too long, the same box will appear.
  3. Skip All, no futher checking for this and the remaining files.
  4. Skip, do not rename this file, but keep on checking the remaining files.
  5. Manual Rename, The following box will appear, allowing you to choose a new name for this file.
